The arrested individuals, identified as Govind Bandari (24), also known as Padma, and Hikmat Rawal (23), both worked as cooks at a fast food center and are originally from Nepal. They were linked to 12 theft cases reported in areas under the jurisdiction of SR Nagar, Balanagar, Jeedimetla, KPHB, and Kukatpally police stations.

According to the police, the duo primarily targeted hostels. Govind would sneak into hostel rooms during the early morning hours while the occupants were asleep and steal mobile phones. The two had planned to sell the stolen phones in Nepal.

Police revealed that the suspects had been living in Hyderabad for six years. In an attempt to make quick money, they began stealing mobile phones from hostels and bachelor accommodations. Over the past six months, they carried out thefts in areas under the Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates.

The crime team arrested the duo on Wednesday near Hitech City railway station after they were spotted behaving suspiciously. During the arrest, 51 stolen mobile phones were recovered from their possession.
