Indian-American Neera Tanden has been named as President Joe Biden’s Domestic Policy Advisor. Tanden will help the President craft and implement his domestic policy agenda, including issues such as economic mobility, racial equity, healthcare, immigration, and education. She replaces Susan Rice in this role.

Tanden has experience in public policy, having served in the Obama and Clinton administrations, presidential campaigns, and think tanks. She was also the President and CEO of the Center for American Progress and the Center for American Progress Action Fund.

President Biden praised Tanden’s 25 years of experience in public policy and her work on key domestic policies such as the Affordable Care Act, clean energy subsidies, and sensible gun reform. He also noted that Tanden will be the first Asian-American to lead any of the three major White House policy councils in history.

Tanden currently serves as Senior Advisor to President Biden and Staff Secretary. The President also announced that Stefanie Feldman will serve as Assistant to the President and Staff Secretary, and Zayn Siddique will be promoted to Principal Deputy of the Domestic Policy Council.
