Road Safety Awareness Campaign Launched in Nagar Kurnool
The District Collector of Nagar Kurnool, Badavath Santosh, along with SP Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, kickstarted an awareness campaign as part of the National Road Safety Month. The initiative, which began on Saturday, included the release of awareness pamphlets and stickers. During the launch, Collector Santosh highlighted that human errors are a leading cause of road accidents, with individuals aged 18 to 45 being the most affected. He urged officials to take proactive steps to minimize accidents in the district.
To improve road safety, the Collector directed the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department to install reflective signboards at blind spots. He also instructed the implementation of essential measures like speed breakers, traffic cameras, zebra crossings, proper lighting, and road reflectors at critical locations. Additionally, awareness activities, such as essay and drawing competitions for students, were suggested. Winners of these competitions will be awarded certificates on Republic Day, January 26.
Further engaging the community, the Collector proposed organizing rangoli competitions with a focus on road safety on the Collectorate premises. Winners of these events will also be recognized during the Republic Day celebrations. Emphasizing safety measures, the Collector announced that helmets are mandatory for all two-wheeler riders entering the Collectorate. Visitors and employees without helmets will be denied entry. To make compliance easier, arrangements will be made to sell helmets at the gate.
The campaign underscores the district administration’s commitment to promoting road safety and reducing accidents through education, enforcement, and community participation.
