National Human Rights Commission requests report from Chief Secretary on the dire situation of schools in Telangana.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Telangana government to report on the condition of schools in the state. This request came after a complaint from a resident of Hyderabad, Sravan Vurappali, who claimed that government schools in Telangana are in poor condition and are not conducive to the well-being and education of students.

The complaint pointed out that many schools lack basic facilities like enough classrooms, working toilets, clean water, and safe playgrounds. The sanitary conditions in these schools are also very bad, which can put the health of students and staff at risk. Additionally, the schools do not have enough budget to hire workers to keep the premises clean.

Furthermore, the complaint mentioned that most schools do not have qualified teachers, which leads to overcrowded classrooms and affects the quality of education. The food provided in these schools is said to be unhygienic and sometimes contaminated with insects. The NHRC has sent a notice to the State Chief Secretary requesting a report within four weeks on these issues.

If the report is not received on time, the NHRC may use legal measures to ensure that the authorities respond to these concerns.
