Corporate Influence in Politics Must Stop: CPI Leader K Narayana

Warangal: Corporate companies are gaining too much control over politics, and this needs to be stopped, said CPI national secretary K Narayana. He spoke to the media in Hanumakonda on Tuesday.

Narayana accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of misusing government agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Income Tax (IT) department to target political opponents. He also alleged that Modi has strong control over the Election Commission and the judiciary.

He criticized the BJP’s claim of “double engine sarkar” being beneficial for a state’s development. He pointed to the governance failure in Manipur as proof that this claim is not true.

Narayana questioned Modi’s leadership by pointing out that the BJP won fewer seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections (242 seats) compared to 2019 (303 seats). He said Modi could only retain power with the support of Bihar’s Nitish Kumar and Andhra Pradesh’s Chandrababu Naidu. He also blamed the Aam Aadmi Party’s election loss on its alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam. According to Narayana, Modi has a strong hold over politics in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking about Telangana’s financial condition, he said that in 2014, the state had a budget surplus. However, due to the financial mismanagement of the BRS government, Telangana is now burdened with ₹7 lakh crore in debt. As a result, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government is struggling to manage the financial crisis. He also claimed that the BJP and BRS have a secret understanding.

Narayana criticized former Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for not attending their respective Assemblies. He called it an insult to the people’s mandate and suggested that both leaders should retire from politics.

He expressed support for a caste census, saying it would bring significant changes to Telangana’s political landscape. He also reminded that the Congress had promised two MLC seats to its ally CPI. Efforts are being made to unite Communist Parties, he added.

Senior leaders Takkalapally Srinivas Rao and Karre Bikshapathi were also present at the media briefing.
