Nampally in Hyderabad Set to Undergo a Rs 309 Cr Transformation

The Nampally railway station in Hyderabad, Telangana is getting a makeover under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The station, which is one of the oldest in the state, will be given a new look to make it more visually appealing. It was built in 1907 and was primarily used for goods until 1921 when passenger trains started operating.

The South Central Railway officials have prepared a plan to renovate the station. Currently, the station has six platforms and no lift facility, but it does have three escalators. After the renovation, there will be 15 lifts and 10 escalators. The waiting area, which is currently 328 sqm, will be expanded to 1,624.37 sqm.

Additionally, there will be more parking space available. Currently, the station can accommodate around 300 two-wheelers and 70 four-wheelers, but after the renovation, it will be able to accommodate around 900 two-wheelers and 210 four-wheelers. A basement of 9942.8 sqm will also be created.

To improve accessibility, unnecessary structures will be removed and better lighting will be installed. The station will also be made Divyangan-friendly and environmentally friendly by using green energy. The entire project is estimated to cost Rs 309 crore and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The General Manager of South Central Railway, Arun Kumar Jain, stated that the Amrit Bharat Stations being developed across the zone will offer a new experience to rail users. These stations will have modern architecture and world-class facilities, and they will serve as city centers with long-term planning in mind.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be laying the foundation stone for the development of 508 railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This includes 50 railway stations in the South Central Railway region, with Nampally being one of them.
