District Collector RV Karnan has instructed officials to speed up relief and rehabilitation efforts for the people affected by the flooding caused by the Sivanna Gudem and Krista Rayini Palli Reservoir waters. These reservoirs are part of the Dindi lift Scheme in Nalgonda district.
During his visit on Thursday, the Collector inspected the Sivanna Gudem Reservoir in MarriGuda mandal, the Krista Rayini Pally reservoir in Nampally mandal, and the R&R Colony in Chinta Pally village. At the Sivanna Gudem Reservoir, he discussed the feasibility of the project with irrigation and revenue officials. They informed him that the reservoir would provide irrigation to 1.55 lakh acres of land with a storage capacity of 11.96 tmcft. The Collector instructed them to make necessary arrangements at the R&R Colony for those displaced by the reservoir in villages like Narsireddy Gudem, Venki Palli Tanda, Venki Palli, and Charla Gudem.
Officials also shared that they are working on providing plots in the R&R Colony in Chinta Palli mandal for the oustees of Narsireddy Gudem. Additionally, 79 acres of land in Antampeta, Marriguda mandal, is being acquired by the revenue department to establish an R&R Colony for the oustees of Venky Palli Tanda, Venky Palli, and Charla Gudem.
The Collector then inspected the Krishta Rayini Palli Reservoir in Nampally mandal. Officials from Dindi Lift Irrigation explained that this reservoir is being constructed to provide irrigation to 1 lakh acres of land with a storage capacity of 5.686 tmcft. They mentioned that the forest clearance process is currently at Stage 1.
Afterward, the Collector assessed the infrastructure of the R&R Colony for the residents of Gotti Mukkala in Chintapalli village. He examined the amenities, such as internal drainage, electricity, and the construction of drinking water tanks. He instructed officials to ensure the provision of drinking water through Mission Bhagiratha.
The Collector was accompanied by Additional Collector J Srinivas, RDO Sri Ramulu, Dindi SE Venkateshwar Rao, Shivanna Gudem EE Ramulu, Krista Rayini Palli EE Yelamandaiah, and tehsildars during the visit.
