Mumbai Indians emerged as the champions of the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) after defeating Delhi Capitals by seven wickets in the final. The match was held at the Brabourne stadium on Sunday. Mumbai Indians restricted Delhi Capitals to 131 for 9 before chasing down the target with three balls to spare. Nat Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten on 60 off 55 balls while skipper Harmanpreet Kaur scored 37 off 39 balls to lead Mumbai Indians to victory. For Delhi Capitals, skipper Meg Lanning top-scored with 35 off 29 balls. Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav added an unbeaten partnership of 52 runs off just 24 balls to take Delhi Capitals to a competitive score. Hayley Matthews returned with impressive figures of 3/5 while Issy Wong claimed three wickets for Mumbai Indians. The tournament saw some exciting performances from both teams and players.
