Multiple initiatives launched on Women’s Day

The Telangana government is launching new schemes to support women as part of its election promises. These schemes will be introduced on International Women’s Day, March 8, at a public meeting at Parade Grounds in Hyderabad.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will announce a subsidised autorickshaw scheme for women. This scheme will also provide free driving training to help women become independent drivers.

Another major initiative, called ‘Indira Mahila Shakti-2025’, will focus on improving the economic status of women. This scheme will offer training, loans, and infrastructure support to help women start their own businesses. As part of this program, the Chief Minister will flag off 50 TSRTC buses that will be operated by self-help groups (SHGs).

Women will also get training in tailoring and other vocational skills through government-recognized institutes. Additionally, they can avail subsidised loans to start small businesses or work as street vendors. The program will also provide special infrastructure for training, livelihood programs, and other economic activities.

To further support women, the government plans to set up solar power plants for SHGs in all 32 districts. This initiative is designed for women aged 18 to 55 who are either unemployed or have an annual income below ₹1.5 lakh in rural areas or ₹2 lakh in urban areas.

Additionally, the government will soon release a notification for recruiting 1,400 Anganwadi teachers and helpers. This move aims to strengthen childcare and nutrition programs across the state.
