More than 10 students at Ekha Primary School in Odisha’s Bhadrak district fell ill after eating a midday meal that had a dead lizard in it. The students vomited and felt uncomfortable, so the authorities stopped serving the meal immediately. The school’s central kitchen system prepared and delivered the contaminated food.
The affected students received medical treatment and were taken to a nearby hospital. Officials from the state education department came to the school to check the situation. Block Education Officer Chakradhar Mallik said they were concerned about the incident and would investigate to find out why it happened.
This incident happened after 25 students from a different school in the same district got sick on March 4 from eating a meal with a dead lizard in it. These events show the importance of making sure school meals are safe. Authorities need to figure out what caused this and how to prevent it from happening again.
