A man from a village in Nagarkurnool mandal has allegedly committed more than 10 murders in the name of tantric worship. He would convince innocent people that he could perform rituals to extract hidden treasures in their homes and fields. He would take large sums of money and register the properties of poor people under his name. If the victims asked him to re-register the land after finding no treasure, he would kill them. These murders have been reported as suspicious deaths and the police will provide an update on Tuesday.
The case came to light when a real estate businessman named Venkatesh was murdered in November. The accused had taken money from Venkatesh under the pretense of performing a ritual and killed him. The police became suspicious as the accused was in contact with Venkatesh’s family members. The investigation began when a complaint was filed with the Nagarkurnool police.
The accused, who is from a village in Nagarkurnool Mandal, used to live with his family in the district headquarters and worked in real estate. He started practicing tantric worship after losing a ward councilor election in 2018.
