The Congress party in Hyderabad is planning to release its second list of candidates after Dasara. The party’s screening committee for Telangana discussed the matter for two consecutive days in Delhi, with K C Venugopal, AICC general secretary, present.
However, there are some ongoing disagreements within the party. Two senior leaders have been at odds with each other. V Hanumnath Rao, a veteran leader, accused the party of only considering BCs as a vote bank. He claimed that the former PCC president, N Uttam Kumar, was blocking the nomination of his follower, R Laxman Yadav, for the Amberpet constituency. Rao tried to communicate with state in-charge Manik Rao Thackery and Revanth Reddy but was unsuccessful.
Rao further alleged that Uttam wanted to give the ticket to his follower, Nuthi Srikanth Goud, and was trying to push him out of the party. Meanwhile, the party’s central leadership has held discussions with left parties, which have yielded positive results. Both the CPI and CPM will contest two seats each.
Additionally, the party leaders assessed the caste dynamics in the first list of BJP candidates and decided to prioritize BCs in their second list. The BJP had given tickets to 20 BCs and 12 women.
