Hyderabad has been struggling to cope with the monsoon season, despite being known for having excellent infrastructure. Every year, the city experiences flooding in many areas, with people needing rescuing and rehabilitation. The administration has promised to take action, but so far, little has changed.

One area that was flooded during recent rains was Tolichowki. Although some work has been done to lay stormwater drains, they have not been completed, which is causing problems for residents. There is no monsoon action plan in place for the area, which is making life miserable for people.

Several areas are affected by flooding during the monsoon season, including Nizam colony, Nadeem Colony, Hakeempet Kunta, Nanal Nagar, MD Lines, Tolichowki, Aditya Nagar colony, Janaki Nagar, and Samatha colony. Residents of Balakapur nala and Shah Hatim Lake are particularly vulnerable to flood damage.

During previous floods, many areas were underwater for around 15 days, and military personnel had to be called in to help with rescues. However, no significant steps have been taken to address the problem.

The GHMC claims to have laid a pipeline to solve the problem in Tolichowki, but residents are still worried about flooding this monsoon season. Work is ongoing in several areas, but progress is slow, and it is unlikely to be completed before the onset of the monsoon.
