Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha has urged people not to fear the monkeypox virus. He instructed authorities to ensure that preventive medicines and necessary medical kits are available in government hospitals across all districts in Telangana.
On Monday, the minister conducted a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat to discuss preventive measures against monkeypox. This meeting was prompted by reports of monkeypox cases in neighboring Kerala.
During the meeting, officials informed the minister that 30 minor cases had been recorded in Delhi and Kerala, but no cases had been reported in Telangana. In response, the minister directed health officials to be vigilant and to take early steps to prepare special wards in Gandhi Hospital and Fever Hospital.
The minister emphasized the importance of being prepared and urged officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department to ensure that all necessary resources are in place to prevent the spread of monkeypox in the State.
