Candidates Offer Money and Liquor to Voters Ahead of MLC Elections

With the campaign for the MLC elections ending on Tuesday, candidates from the Adilabad–Nizamabad–Medak–Karimnagar Graduates’ Constituency have started offering money and liquor to attract graduate voters. Reports suggest that major candidates are giving Rs 2,000 to each voter in this constituency.

In the Teachers’ Constituency, teacher voters are being lured with liquor bottles and night parties at farmhouses. These efforts are aimed at influencing the voters before the election.

A total of 3,55,159 voters are eligible to vote in the February 27 election for the Medak–Nizamabad–Adilabad–Karimnagar Graduates’ Constituency, which covers 15 districts. The voter list includes 2,26,765 men, 1,28,392 women, and two third-gender voters.

For the Medak–Nizamabad–Adilabad–Karimnagar Teachers’ Constituency, the total number of voters stands at 27,088, with 16,932 men and 10,156 women. Meanwhile, the Warangal–Khammam–Nalgonda Teachers’ Constituency has 25,797 voters, including 15,483 men and 10,314 women.

Congress and BJP leaders are making last-minute efforts to win over voters. Local leaders have already approached many voters, offering gifts, including cash, in exchange for their support. Some influential leaders are also providing expensive liquor bottles to teacher voters. Sources say that farmhouses have been booked for parties on polling day, where district leaders of teachers’ associations will be hosted.
