Ministers and Harish Rao engage in heated exchange over Krishna water allocation and projects

Several ministers in Hyderabad engaged in a heated discussion about Krishna waters in the Assembly on Monday. The discussion was about the resolution not to hand over projects to the Krishna River Management Board. T Harish Rao, a member of the BRS party, claimed that the government’s facts were not true and that it was a victory for the people and his party. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy responded by saying that BRS leaders had no moral right to be in Nalgonda as they had deceived the people there. Harish Rao objected to this and asked for the comments to be withdrawn. The discussion continued with accusations and counter-accusations between the ministers.

During the discussion, Harish Rao questioned why it took the ministers 10 days to say that they had not handed over the projects when the Centre issued a notification on January 27. He also showed videos of ENC Muralidhar Rao on his laptop. Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka accused Muralidhar Rao of being a TRS man and causing injustice to Telangana. Harish Rao asked the minister to clarify if Muralidhar Rao had lied. Another minister, Uttam Kumar Reddy, demanded an apology from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for allowing the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation project and accepting 299 tmcft. Harish Rao defended their actions by saying that they had to accept 299 because the previous Congress government had agreed to it.

Meanwhile, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar suggested that all members should go to New Delhi and meet the Prime Minister to get the projects back. He urged the opposition parties to pass the resolution after discussions without playing politics. When BRS members mentioned that KCR had agreed for Godavari waters, Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao argued that if the state couldn’t get 45 tmcft from Polavaram, they couldn’t allow the neighboring state to take water. The discussion continued with no clear resolution reached.
