Minister urges engineers to finish sewerage treatment plant work within a month

Nalgonda: Minister for Roads, Buildings, and Cinematography, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, visited the site of the ongoing Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) construction near Sheshamma Gudem in Nalgonda district on Saturday.

During the inspection, the minister instructed engineers to finish the STP work within one month. He expressed disappointment that, although Rs 38 crore was approved for the project back in 2014, it still hasn’t been completed.

Komatireddy highlighted that 80% of homes in Nalgonda town were connected to the sewerage system about 20 years ago. Areas like Venkateshwara Colony and Raghavendra Colony already have STP connections. He said the remaining 30% of households will also be connected soon.

The minister told municipal engineering and public health officials to speed up the work and complete it within 25 to 30 days. He also suggested building a garden around the STP once it’s finished.

In addition, he announced plans to build another modern STP at Narsappa Guda and asked for public support to help make the project a success. He promised that no work would be done in a way that causes trouble for residents.

The minister emphasized that the project should be closely monitored by the District Collector and other senior officials. District Collector Ila Tripathi, Additional Collector Srinivas, and other officials joined him during the inspection.
