Hyderabad: Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has held actor Allu Arjun responsible for the tragic death of Revathi, which occurred during a stampede on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre. The incident happened during the screening of the actor’s movie, Pushpa-2.
Speaking at a media event on Sunday, the Minister criticized Allu Arjun for his recent statements made during a press conference on December 22. These remarks were in response to allegations made by the Chief Minister in the Assembly. Komatireddy argued that it was improper for the actor to publicly counter the CM’s comments, which were based on official reports. He demanded that Allu Arjun issue a public apology to the Chief Minister.
“The Chief Minister’s statements in the Assembly were based on verified facts provided by officials. The stampede at the theatre, which led to Revathi’s death, is a matter of public record. Allu Arjun cannot deny this,” the Minister stated. He also accused the actor of trying to deflect blame by claiming that the CM’s comments had tarnished his image.
The Minister further criticized Allu Arjun for not visiting Revathi’s 9-year-old son, Sri Tej, who is currently undergoing treatment. He dismissed the actor’s explanation that his legal team advised against the visit. Komatireddy also suggested that Megastar Chiranjeevi, who supported Allu Arjun in this issue, should visit the hospital and offer help to Revathi’s family.
Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy also condemned Allu Arjun, accusing him of prioritizing his film revenues over public welfare. “As a public figure, he must act responsibly and avoid actions that harm others. It is ironic that he has criticized the Chief Minister after such a tragic incident,” said the MP.
Meanwhile, Congress MLC Balmuri Venkat urged the actor to show greater empathy during incidents like the Sandhya Theatre tragedy. He emphasized that this behavior does not reflect the values of the Telugu community, which is known for its strength and compassion.
Adding to the criticism, Government Whip Aadi Srinivas remarked that Allu Arjun has shown no signs of remorse in his actions or demeanor following the incident.
The controversy continues to stir debates, with political leaders and members of the public calling on Allu Arjun to take responsibility and address the matter with sensitivity.
