Minister Affirms Congress's Commitment to Uplifting the Poor

Khammam: The welfare of the poor in Telangana can be achieved only through Indiramma’s Rajyam, said Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. He is currently serving as the Minister of Revenue, Information, I&PR, and Housing.

On Wednesday, along with Dr. P Sreeja, the Additional Collector of Local Bodies, the minister distributed safety kits, Kalyana Lakshmi cheques, and CM Relief Fund cheques to beneficiaries in Nelakondapally mandal. He expressed satisfaction that many welfare programs aimed at helping the poor have been successfully implemented in the past 10 months since the Congress party came to power in the state. He also mentioned that the government is committed to supporting caste-based professions, such as fishing.

Minister Srinivas Reddy announced that the financial limit under the Rajeev Arogyashri scheme had been increased to ₹10 lakh. This change is aimed at ensuring that the poor do not struggle to afford medical treatment. Furthermore, under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, financial support is provided to help parents with marriage expenses for their daughters.

The minister also highlighted that the government has waived loans of up to ₹2 lakh for farmers, covering ₹18,000 crore in total. He added that loans above ₹2 lakh, amounting to ₹13,000 crore, would also be waived soon. Additionally, he revealed that the Indiramma house scheme would be launched by the end of October, and 4,000 houses are expected to be sanctioned for each assembly constituency.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy also mentioned that the PSR Trust, which he runs, is providing support to girls studying from class 8 to 12 in the Paleru constituency. As part of this initiative, the trust is distributing 620 bicycles to girls in Nelakondapally mandal. A similar program had been held earlier in Kusumanchi mandal.

Several officials, including Khammam RDO G Ganesh, District Excise Superintendent Nagender Reddy, and District Education Officer Somasekhara Sharma, were present at the event.
