Mineral Water Cans in High Demand with Temperature Rise in Twin Cities

With the rise in temperature, people in Hyderabad are buying more mineral water cans despite having piped drinking water at home. The price of these cans has gone up to Rs 35 from Rs 10 to 20. Some people have raised concerns about the safety of this water.

Social activists have voiced doubts about the quality of water supplied to mineral water can suppliers. There are no monitors to ensure that the water is clean and uncontaminated, especially in the western part of the city where there is irregular water supply and some colonies receive contaminated water.

Many people are running mineral water plants illegally to make profits during high demand. They sell drinking water without proper permissions and certifications. There are no checks on the cleanliness of the tank from where the water is being supplied. This is a matter of public health, and GHMC officials must take steps to check the plants.

Some people have found insects floating inside cans of mineral water sold in their locality. There is no authority to check the quality of water supplied, which is a cause for concern.

An owner of a water plant in Jeedimetla said that with the rise in temperature, the supply of water cans has increased. He sells more than 2,500 litres per day and claims that the water in his plant is regularly checked and purified.

In conclusion, the rise in temperature has led to an increase in demand for mineral water cans. However, concerns about the safety and quality of this water persist. Authorities must take steps to monitor and regulate the supply of drinking water to ensure public health and safety.
