A delegation of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen legislators met with three Police Commissioners in Hyderabad to discuss allowing business establishments to operate during night hours in the month of Ramzan. The legislators, on the instructions of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, spoke with Hyderabad Police Commissioner K Sreenivasa Reddy, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, and Rachakonda Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi about this issue.
The AIMIM legislators requested the police commissioners to give directions to allow eateries, hotels, and other businesses to stay open at night during Ramzan. They mentioned that many people visit markets and mosques during the night hours, so it would be convenient for them if the establishments were open.
The delegation from AIMIM included MLAs and MLCs who discussed the confusion on the first day of Ramzan when shops were forced to close early by patrolling police. However, after the representation made by AIMIM, the three Commissioners assured that commercial establishments could stay open late during Ramzan.
Jaffer Hussain Meraj emphasized the importance of cooperation between traders and police to ensure there are no issues with traffic or law and order. He also mentioned a previous representation made by AIMIM’s floor leader to the Chief Minister requesting permission for shops to operate at night in GHMC limits during Ramzan. Additionally, a call recording of the Advisor to Government on Minority Affairs stating that shops could be open 24 hours during Ramzan was circulating on social media.
