Hyderabad Metro Rail Project Takes a Step Forward in Old City
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, along with Hyderabad Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy, distributed the first batch of cheques for land acquisition for the metro rail project in the Old City on Monday. This marks an important milestone for the 7.5 km metro line that will run from MGBS to Chandrayangutta.
A total of Rs 20 crore was paid as compensation to 41 owners of 34 properties affected by the project. According to Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), around 1,100 properties will need to be acquired along the route, with an estimated total compensation of Rs 1,000 crore.
Speaking at the event, NVS Reddy emphasized that fair compensation is being provided to property owners as per the instructions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He also mentioned that MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s suggestions were taken into account during the planning process.
Reddy added that the second phase of metro construction will include enhanced facilities compared to the first phase. Modern amenities, such as skywalks and footpaths, will be built to connect metro stations to nearby tourist attractions like Charminar, Lad Bazaar, and Salar Jung Museum. This initiative aims to transform the Old City and improve its infrastructure.
The MD highlighted the CM’s commitment to the development of the Old City, stating, “We are ready to fulfill the CM’s resolve to complete the Old City Metro in four years at an estimated cost of Rs 2,741 crore.” He also announced plans to begin construction of an advanced multi-level parking project using German Puzzle Technology in Nampally next month. This project is expected to serve as a gateway to further development in the area.
MP Asaduddin Owaisi expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for making the long-awaited metro rail project a reality for the residents of the Old City. He also urged the metro authorities to prioritize affected property owners when offering business opportunities at the new metro stations.
