Heavy Rains Expected in Andhra Pradesh Due to Cyclone Warning
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains across Andhra Pradesh on October 23 and 24. These rains are due to a depression over the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to strengthen into a cyclone by Wednesday.
Officials have predicted that the cyclone will affect the northern coastal districts of the state the most, bringing heavy downpours.
As the cyclone moves closer to the coast, it is likely to grow stronger. Winds could reach speeds of 100-110 km/h at the time of landfall. Fishermen have been asked not to go out to sea because the sea conditions are expected to be rough.
Currently, the depression is centered over the east-central Bay of Bengal. It is expected to cross the coast between Puri and Sagar Island on October 24 or 25. Due to its movement, several districts such as Anakapalli, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, and Alluri are likely to receive heavy rain.
Other areas may experience light to moderate showers, according to R. Kurmanath, Managing Director of the Disaster Management Authority.
Residents in the affected regions are advised to stay alert. Officials are taking steps to reduce disruptions caused by the approaching storm.
