On Friday, K.T.Rama Rao, the Minister for municipal administration and urban development in Telangana, met with union defence minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi. KTR gave a memorandum to the union minister asking for defence lands to be given over for the construction of flyovers, skywalks, link roads, and road widening in the city.

KTR also asked for the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) to be merged with GHMC and requested that the process be expedited. The HMDA has already started building a skywalk at Rythu Bazar, Mehdipatnam, but it needs 0.51 acres of defence land.

KTR asked for defence land to be transferred for the construction of an elevated corridor from Paradise Junction to ORR junction on Hyderabad-Karimnagar-Ramagundam road (Rajiv Rahadari) to ease traffic on one of the busiest roads in Hyderabad. The project is 18.40 km long, with 11.12 km being a 6-lane elevated corridor, and it requires 94.20 acres of defence land.

KTR also tweeted about his meeting with Rajnath Singh, saying that the projects were aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity to districts such as Kamareddy.
