Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav inaugurated 1700 2BHK Dignity Housing Colony at Bahadurpally, Quthbullapur in Medchal district here on Saturday.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao formulated the housing scheme for the poor and needy for a dignity living. Out of 1700 houses distributed on Saturday, 144 beneficiaries belong to Gajularamaram, 356 beneficiaries from Bahadurpally, 500 beneficiaries each from Sanathnagar and Kukatpally, and 200 beneficiaries from Secunderabad Cantonment areas.

Allotment of the houses has been done transparently with no political alliance, but purely with a draw of lots in the presence of everyone. Not even one rupee has been collected from any beneficiary. Each house, costing about Rs 50 to 60 lakh, is being given to the poor and needy free of cost by the government. The cost of an acre where the housing colonies are being built is around Rs 8 to 10 crore. This scheme is not being implemented anywhere else in the country. Individuals who did not get allotments in the first phase should not panic, as all eligible applicants will eventually receive houses in a phased manner. The Opposition’s allegation of non-applicants receiving houses is false.

In Uppal, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Gadwal Vijaya Laxmi assured those whose names did not appear in the first phase lottery that they should not worry. A total of 12,000 houses will be distributed in six phases. The second phase distribution will take place in the next 15 days.
