Hyderabad Mayor, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, has asked city officials to prepare for the upcoming Ganesh festival and ensure that the Ganesh immersion program runs smoothly. The festival will start on September 7, with the immersion scheduled for September 17.
On Thursday, the Mayor visited various areas in the Serilingampally zone. She inspected the sanitation in different localities, checked the condition of roads, and looked at lakes and other water bodies. She gave several suggestions to the concerned officers to improve the situation.
One of her main concerns was sanitation. She told the sanitation department to take quick action to remove garbage and leftover waste during and after the Ganesh immersion. She also advised them to keep a close watch on sanitation management at the field level.
The Mayor visited several lakes, including Malkam, Gopi, Nalgandla, Raya Samudra, Saki, Gangaram, Gautam Baby Pond, Kadiam Kunta, and Durgam lakes. She instructed the officers to deploy security personnel to care for the baby ponds.
In areas around Gangaram Lake, where dengue cases have been detected, the Mayor directed the entomology wing to take necessary measures to control the situation.
She also asked the officials to improve the roads and fill potholes, especially on the routes where the Ganesh immersion processions will take place. Additionally, she advised that basic facilities be provided to devotees at the immersion sites.
The Mayor was accompanied by Zonal Commissioner Upender Reddy and several other officials from the sanitation, lakes, engineering departments, as well as local corporators.
