Hyderabad: Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has issued a strong warning to restaurants, hotels, and eateries about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their kitchens. She stated that strict actions will be taken against any establishment that does not follow hygiene standards. The Mayor also urged hotel owners to focus on providing healthy food options to their customers.
On Wednesday, Mayor Vijayalakshmi carried out surprise inspections at Mughal Restaurant in Lakdikapool and Din Hill Hotel in Masab Tank. During the inspections, she found concerning practices, such as storing cooked food in refrigerators and reheating it before serving it to customers. The Mayor stressed the importance of maintaining high food quality for the city’s residents and said that regular inspections of food establishments are necessary to ensure this.
The Mayor also instructed officials to remain vigilant by conducting frequent checks. She added that hotels failing to meet cleanliness standards should be shut down. Additionally, she warned that strict action would be taken against establishments operating without proper trade and food licenses. Veterinary officers inspected receipts for meat purchases and called for action against those not following regulations.
Several officials were present during the inspection, including Health Additional Commissioner Pankaja, Chief Veterinary Dr Abdul Vakilu, Chief Medical Health Officer Dr Padmaja, in-charge Food Security Assistant Control Mutyam Raju, and Food Secretary Officer Lakshmi Kant.
