Chada Venkat Reddy, a leader of the Communist Party of India (CPI), has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to fulfill his promises regarding the bifurcation of Telangana. Reddy believes that it is shameful for Modi to enter Telangana without implementing any of his promises. He also warned that the BJP is betraying the people of Telangana by neglecting the state, and that the people will punish the betraying parties.
In response to the CPI State council’s call to protest Modi’s visit to Hyderabad, the CPI Hyderabad district council organized a demonstration on Saturday at Satyanarayana Reddy Bhavan. However, the police were deployed and cordoned off the area since morning to prevent any disruptions.
Despite this, Reddy, along with other CPI members, managed to break through the police cordon and hold a demonstration at Satyanarayana Reddy Bhavan. The CPI cadres carried placards and chanted slogans such as ‘Modi Hatav-Desh Bachavo’, ‘Modi Go Back’, ‘tyrannical Modi must perish’, and ‘Bifurcation promises must be implemented’.
The police tried to stop the demonstration, leading to a heated argument and clashes between the CPI activists and police. Some protestors even staged a protest on Himayat Nagar main road. Eventually, the police arrested the CPI leaders and workers and took them to different police stations.
During the demonstration, Reddy expressed his concern that the Centre was being careless towards Telangana State. He accused the BJP government at the Centre of cheating Telangana by not giving Bayyaram Steel Industry, Railway Coach Factory, Medical colleges, IIT, IIM, IIIT, Tribal and Mining Universities to Telangana. He also warned that the public movement will be intensified to achieve the promises of bifurcation.
