Six People Arrested for Cheating Innocent Victims
Police officers from the Malkajgiri Special Operations Team (SOT) and Keesara Police, under the Rachakonda Commissionerate, arrested six individuals involved in a fraudulent scheme. The group deceived innocent people by promising them job transfers, housing, and employment opportunities.
One of the arrested individuals, A. Surender Reddy, pretended to be Sri Vem Narender Reddy, the Chief Advisor to the Telangana State Government. He used this false identity to convince seven people that he could arrange their job transfers to locations of their choice. The group also promised 2BHK flats at Cherlapally and jobs at the Food Corporation of India. In total, they cheated their victims out of ₹1.29 crores.
Details of the Accused:
1. Anugu Surender Reddy, 34 years old, a catering contractor for Mid Day Meals at ZPHS Kushaiguda, residing in Ganesh Nagar, Kushaiguda, and originally from Husnabad Village, Bhongir Mandal.
2. Merina Rose, 52 years old, a housewife living in Chandeeshwari Nagar Colony, Nagaram, Keesara.
3. Bolugula Anjaiah, 34 years old, a private employee residing in SLNS Colony, Annojiguda, Pocharam, and originally from Thukkapuram Village, Athmakur Mandal, Nalgonda.
4. Banda Venkatesh, 55 years old, a security guard living in Sai Nagar, Dammaiguda, Keesara, Medchal-Malkajgiri District.
5. Katravath Gopal Nayak, 48 years old, a mason residing in Jaikisan Colony, Jammigadda.
6. Anugu Harshini Reddy, 33 years old, a private teacher living in TPS Krishnanagar Colony, Godumakunta Village, Keesara.
Seized Property:
The police seized the following items from the accused:
1. 98 fake 2BHK allotment documents
2. 2 duplicate stamps (RDO Keesara)
3. 8 mobile phones
4. ₹1,97,000 in cash
Modus Operandi:
Surender Reddy, who had a contract for Mid Day Meals, used his connections at the MEO office to pose as a high-ranking state government official. He convinced people that he had significant influence within the Telangana government and could help them secure 2BHK flats and jobs at the Food Corporation of India. Along with his accomplices, he defrauded approximately 100 people, collecting ₹1.04 crores for the fake housing allotments and ₹18.5 lakhs for job offers. Additionally, Surender Reddy collected ₹7 lakhs from seven individuals by promising to arrange their job transfers.
Background of Accused A1:
In 2021, A. Surender Reddy was arrested by Neredmet Police for his involvement in illegal cricket betting under Cr No. 723/2021 U/s 3, 4, and 5 of the Gaming Act.
Case Details:
1. Cr No. 432/2024 (PS Ghatkesar): Surender Reddy impersonated the Chief Advisor to the Telangana State Government and cheated seven people from the education department out of ₹7 lakhs by promising job transfers.
2. Cr No. 655/2024 (PS Keesara): In November 2023, victim Smt. Kalyani approached Merina Rose, who introduced her to Surender Reddy and others. They promised 2BHK flats for ₹2.5 lakhs each. The group collectively cheated around 100 people out of ₹1.04 crores.
3. Cr No. 656/2024 (PS Keesara): The accused also cheated two more individuals by offering them jobs at the Food Corporation of India, collecting ₹18.5 lakhs.
Appeal to the Public:
The Rachakonda Police urge the public not to approach middlemen for 2BHK house allocations or job transfers. Victims of similar frauds are encouraged to report to the Keesara Police. The public is also advised to be cautious of fraudsters impersonating government officials and offering jobs or housing.
Caution:
The police warn against fraudsters who impersonate government officials or political leaders and promise jobs or benefits in government programs. If anyone encounters such individuals, they should immediately contact the Rachakonda Police.
DTP operators and stamp vendors are also cautioned not to prepare official documents or stamps without proper authorization. Violators will face legal action.
