Mala Sangham leaders staged a Rasta Roko protest in Wankidi mandal on Wednesday. They were opposing the SC classification introduced by the government. Several Dalit organizations, including Bharatiya Buddhist Mahasabha, Ambedkar Sangam, and Siddhartha Yuvajana Sangha, expressed their anger over the issue.
The protestors accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of being unfair to the Mala community. They claimed that the SC classification was unique to this state and not practiced anywhere else in the country. They believed that the Congress government had unfairly favored the Madiga community while ignoring the rights of the Malas.
During the protest, demonstrators sat on the National Highway and shouted slogans against both the Central and State governments. As part of their demonstration, they submitted a petition at the Ambedkar statue, demanding justice for their community.
Many Dalit leaders criticized both the BJP and Congress, alleging that they had betrayed the interests of the Mala community. They urged Malas to unite and show their strength in the upcoming local elections to oppose this injustice.
The leaders emphasized that their fight would continue until fair treatment was ensured for the Malas. They clarified that they had no objection to reservation classifications if they were done according to the Constitution.
Additionally, some leaders accused the SC classification commission of being biased against them, further fueling their dissatisfaction with the government’s decision.
