Rajiv Luthra, the founder and managing partner of Luthra and Luthra Law Offices, has passed away at 67 years old. He started the law firm in 1990 as a first-generation lawyer. Luthra was receiving treatment for an illness at Medanta Hospital before he passed away. His cremation will take place at Lodhi Crematorium at noon.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon confirmed his death on Twitter, calling Luthra a “warm and wonderful man.”
Luthra began his journey to become a lawyer at 31 when he enrolled in Delhi University’s law program after initially pursuing a career as a chartered accountant. He founded his own law firm in 1989 and took courses at Harvard Law School over seven years to stay up-to-date on new developments in the legal field. This allowed him to practice project finance and mergers and acquisitions.
