A cloudburst with heavy rain, wind, and thunder hit Hyderabad on Sunday. Many areas, especially those situated in low-lying regions, got flooded. The downpour continued throughout Greater Hyderabad and caused the most damage on low-lying areas. The Disaster Response Force (DRF) was deployed to manage the situation. The rain lasted for half an hour but caused a lot of destruction. Traffic gridlocks were reported in many areas, and there were power cuts. Trees were uprooted, and civic works on roads were affected. Citizens expressed their shock and complaints on Twitter.
The Mayor held a teleconference with Zonal Commissioners and directed them to be vigilant and alert officers in their zones to clear waterlogged roads and deploy people in low-lying areas. On Saturday, DRF retrieved 19 bikes from city nalas and attended to 59 complaints in the city after heavy rainfall.
