Hyderabad: The State saw a massive increase in liquor sales during December, amounting to a total of ₹3,805 crore. The last week of the month, from December 23 to December 31, recorded the highest sales, reaching ₹1,700 crore. This is ₹200 crore more compared to the same period last year.
The Excise Department attributed this surge to the festive season and people stocking up for New Year celebrations. These occasions traditionally boost the demand for liquor across the State.
This year’s numbers highlight a growing trend of rising liquor sales during the year-end holidays. Among the days, December 30 stood out with the highest single-day sale of ₹402 crore.
