Australian opposition leader Peter Dutton met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Sydney recently. Dutton praised the reception Modi received from diaspora Indians at a mega event in Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, saying that Australian politicians were “jealous” of the Prime Minister. During their meeting, Modi and Dutton discussed bilateral ties and people-to-people linkages. The external affairs ministry said the meeting indicated “bipartisan support to the India-Australia relationship.” Dutton also spoke to CNN-News18 about the potential for strengthening ties between the two countries in areas such as education, environment, defence, and security.
