Hyderabad: Telangana’s IT and MA&UD Minister, KT Rama Rao, has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring good news for the people of the state during his visit next week. Specifically, Rama Rao requested good news regarding the allotment of defense lands for infrastructure projects in Hyderabad. He criticized the BJP-led Union government for not providing enough support and assistance to Telangana over the past nine years. Rama Rao inaugurated the interchange at Narsingi on the Outer Ring Road on Saturday.
During his speech, Rama Rao mentioned that the state government had previously requested half an acre of defense land to construct a skywalk in Mehdipatnam, similar to the one built in Uppal. The purpose of the skywalk is to reduce traffic congestion and provide a safe passage for pedestrians. Additionally, link roads are being proposed in Attapur and defense land is required in Langar Houz. These issues were recently discussed with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.
Furthermore, plans are underway to build skyways from JBS to Shamirpet and from Patny to Kandlakoya, covering approximately 36 km, to improve traffic flow in the northern part of Hyderabad. In order to proceed with these projects, 150 acres of defense land have been requested, with the state government agreeing to allocate 500 acres in Shamirpet as an exchange. However, there has been no response from the Union government.
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana approaching, Rama Rao appeals to him to allot the defense lands to the state government and hopes for a positive response. Rama Rao also mentioned Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s plans for development in the state, including an expressway over River Musi from Manchirevula to Nagole. This project would cost Rs.10,000 crore and aims to connect the western and eastern parts of the city, as well as alleviate traffic congestion. Additionally, 14 bridges are being constructed across River Musi to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
