Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, the Working President of the BRS party, shared his happiness over electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD’s decision to set up a manufacturing plant in Telangana. He credited this major development to the forward-thinking policies introduced during the BRS government’s time in power.
KTR said that BYD’s entry into Telangana is a result of two key initiatives — the Telangana Mobility Valley and the State’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy. Both were launched under the BRS regime. He also linked these efforts to the successful hosting of the Formula-E race in the state, saying it was all part of a bigger plan to promote EVs and attract investment.
He congratulated everyone who worked on bringing this major investment to the state. KTR mentioned that BYD, a global leader in the EV market, had agreed to invest nearly $10 billion in Telangana during the BRS government’s term. The plan was to do this through a partnership with Hyderabad-based company Olectra Greentech.
However, the investment faced delays in the past due to restrictions from the Central government on foreign investments from China. KTR said he was glad that recent changes in these policies have now cleared the way for BYD to move forward with its project in Telangana.
He emphasized that the BRS government’s efforts, especially its EV Policy, played a key role in attracting such a big company. KTR also addressed criticism from the Congress party regarding the Formula-E race. He explained that the race wasn’t just a sporting event but part of a larger strategy to make Telangana a leader in the EV sector.
KTR said the Formula-E race, along with the EV Summit and the Telangana Mobility Valley initiative, were all planned steps to build a strong electric vehicle ecosystem in the state. He concluded by saying that BYD’s investment is proof that those efforts are now showing results.
