Hyderabad: BRS Plans to Remove Congress Statues in Secretariat if Voted to Power
BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) announced on Monday that, if the BRS comes to power, they will remove the ‘Congress Thalli’ statue and the Rajiv Gandhi statue from the Secretariat. He stated that these statues would be sent to Gandhi Bhavan as soon as Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) assumes office.
KTR criticized the Telangana government’s decision to announce Telangana Thalli ‘Avirbhava Dinam,’ comparing it to murderers holding condolence meetings. He accused Congress leaders of designing a “poor and bankrupt” representation of Telangana Thalli, calling it an insult. “No one in the world changes their mother, but these mean fellows in Telangana have changed Telangana Thalli. We will replace the Congress Thalli statue with Telangana Thalli on the first day of our government,” he remarked.
BRS Plans Protests Against 'Congress Thalli'
The BRS has planned peaceful protests on Tuesday to oppose the State government’s ‘Congress Thalli’ statue politics. KTR urged BRS workers and activists who participated in the Telangana movement to update their WhatsApp and social media profile pictures with the image of Telangana Thalli. Additionally, the party plans to perform symbolic rituals such as milk baths and Panchamruta Abhishekams to honor the Telangana Thalli statue.
Police Stop BRS MLAs at Assembly Entry
Earlier in the day, BRS MLAs were stopped by the police at the Assembly entrance. The legislators were wearing t-shirts that featured photos of Congress leader Revanth Reddy and businessman Adani with the caption, “Revanth Adani Bhai Bhai.” After paying tributes at the Martyrs Memorial, BRS MLAs and MLCs staged a protest wearing these t-shirts. The police detained them and shifted them to the Telangana Bhavan, the BRS party office.
KTR Demands Congress Clarify Stance on Revanth-Adani Deals
KTR accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of remaining silent on alleged shady deals between Revanth Reddy and Adani. He claimed that after Revanth Reddy came to power, conspiracies were being hatched to benefit Adani in Telangana, despite Congress opposing Adani at the national level. “The Congress party is playing tricks. While they claim to fight Adani in Delhi, they are working to benefit him in Telangana by looting projects and resources,” KTR alleged.
Congress Accused of Hypocrisy
KTR further alleged that Congress leaders are turning a blind eye to Revanth Reddy’s business dealings with Adani because of “money bags” being sent to Delhi. He called on the Congress to stop its hypocrisy and clearly state its position on these alleged deals. “We will expose these conspiracies against Telangana’s interests and continue fighting for the rights of the people whose lands are being forcibly taken,” KTR concluded.
