KTR Criticizes State Budget for Lacking Substance

Hyderabad: BRS MLA KT Rama Rao criticized the recently presented budget by the government, saying it didn’t offer anything substantial for the people of Telangana. He urged the Finance Minister to reallocate funds appropriately.

In a speech that lasted over two hours, KTR highlighted Telangana’s growth over the last decade under BRS rule. He accused the Congress party of tarnishing Telangana’s image by not acknowledging its successes, aiming instead to gain political points. KTR discussed significant economic and social advancements in the state and provided a detailed overview of the policies that fueled this growth.

KTR pointed out that despite Congress’s criticisms on financial management, Telangana’s development expenditure is at 74 percent, the highest in the nation. He also mentioned that the State’s committed expenditure, which includes salaries, pensions, and interest payments, is 47 paise per rupee, compared to the national average of 56 paise.

Addressing concerns about excessive debts, Rao said that Telangana’s debt-to-GSDP ratio of 27.9 percent is better than many other states. He explained that the increased borrowing was strategically used for development projects. KTR questioned why the Congress party set an ‘impractical 100-day deadline’ for implementing six guarantees and asked when the government would fulfill their 420 electoral promises.
