KRBM grants Telangana 8.5 tmc ft of water, thanks to Krishna

The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) allocated 8.5 tmc ft of water to Telangana and 5.5 tmc ft to Andhra Pradesh for drinking water needs. To meet Hyderabad’s water requirements in the summer, the state government will lift water from Nagarjuna Sagar dam and Singur reservoir.

After the KRMB’s decision, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted water supply to Hyderabad. He expressed dissatisfaction with officials who were not taking the issue seriously and warned of consequences if they did not improve. He also ordered the removal of officials obstructing water supply.

The CM directed officials to coordinate with Karnataka for water release from Narayanpur reservoir. During election time, Revanth Reddy warned against false complaints and reports that could tarnish the government’s reputation, instructing officials to report such incidents to the Election Commission promptly.

Precautionary measures were advised to avoid drinking water problems in all towns and villages due to the upcoming scorching heat. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for more water supply despite an increase from last year, acknowledging it was still insufficient for people’s needs.
