MLA Koonanneni Sambashirao announced the establishment of a fresh water scheme in Kothagudem, costing Rs.124.48 crores. This initiative aims to provide a long-term solution to the water scarcity issues faced by the residents. The Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other local officials were present for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the scheme.

The plan involves laying 150 km of new pipelines from Kinnerasani to Kothagudem municipality to ensure a steady supply of water. Funding will come from various sources, with 10% from the central government, 30% from the state government, and 10% from municipal funds. A treatment center at Illendu Cross will be able to treat 2.65 lakh liters of water daily as part of this scheme.

To distribute the treated water, high-level tanks will be established in different areas. Tanks with capacities of 20 lakh liters, 10 lakh liters, and 8 lakh liters will be set up in specific locations. Measures are also being taken to address leaks in old pipelines during the construction process.

Efforts are also being made to improve drainage systems in key areas to prevent waterlogging. The goal is to ensure that public buildings remain durable by consistently monitoring the quality of construction work. Proposals for various infrastructure projects have been submitted to the government for approval.

MLA Koonanneni Sambashirao expressed concerns about the potential privatization of Singareni coal mines and vowed to protect them. He highlighted ongoing efforts by the government to privatize coal mines in the region and emphasized the importance of safeguarding Singareni’s resources.

Local leaders and officials from different political parties and community groups attended the press conference to show their support for the development projects in Kothagudem. Plans to upgrade municipal facilities and infrastructure are underway, with a focus on improving water supply, drainage systems, and overall livability in the region.
