Vanama Venkateswara Rao, the BRS candidate from Kothagudem, is aiming to win the assembly elections for the fifth time. He comes from an agricultural family and was born in 1944 in Palvoncha in Kothagudem district. Vanama started his political career in the Congress party and served as a sarpanch from 1971 to 1977. He has been elected four times as the MLA from Kothagudem in 1989, 1999, 2004, and 2018. He also served as the District Congress Committee president for 16 years from 2001 to 2017. Vanama has been associated with former Chief Minister Jalagam Vengal Rao and late CM Y S Rajsekhara Reddy. He is currently contesting as the BRS MLA candidate from Kothagudem and previously served as the Health Minister in the YSR government in 2008.
Vanama expressed his dedication to public service and his gratitude towards Chief Minister KCR for allowing him to enter the assembly even at an older age. He believes that the development works of BRS and the party’s manifesto will contribute to his victory in the elections.
