This year, the festival welcomed over 50 professional kite flyers from 21 countries, including Italy, Indonesia, Australia, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. Additionally, 16 participants from across India showcased their creative kite designs. The Parade Grounds’ skies became a visual treat, featuring kites shaped like metro trains, cars, cartoon characters, and even a giant fish. A series of Captain Mario-shaped kites flying in unison drew cheers from the crowd.

International participants shared their love for kite flying, describing it as more than just a hobby. Andreas, a 75-year-old from Sweden, expressed his admiration for Hyderabad, saying, “The warmth here in the City of Pearls is unmatched. Flying self-designed kites brings immense joy.” For Andreas, kite flying is a peaceful and creative experience.

Yolanda Esguerra, a veteran kite designer from Thailand, attended the festival for the first time in her 35-year career. She noted, “The wind here is milder, but the welcoming atmosphere makes up for it. My bowl-shaped kites create a unique visual impact.”

Kim and Chong, first-time participants from Korea, brought kites that reflect Korean culture and traditions. “This festival is a refreshing experience compared to other Indian cities,” they said.

The Awita Team from France, consisting of Blandine, Flopian, Sylvain, and Nico, were thrilled to be part of the event. They have been attending the festival for three years and shared, “We’ve loved kite flying since childhood. The hospitality in Hyderabad is extraordinary.”

Local enthusiasts also joined in the excitement. Anil Yadav, a participant from Kukatpally, shared, “We look forward to this festival every year. Watching such amazing kite displays is a true joy.”

As the Telangana International Kite and Sweet Festival continues, it brings together people from different cultures and backgrounds under a sky filled with color and creativity. This vibrant celebration highlights the beauty of art, tradition, and unity.
