Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his disapproval. He reminded the public that the Congress Party had opposed President Murmu’s candidature in the past, labeling her as a “rubber stamp.” He also accused Sonia Gandhi of mocking her by calling her a “poor lady.” According to Reddy, these remarks reflect the Congress Party’s disregard for the President’s achievements and capabilities, particularly because she comes from a tribal background.

Reddy further criticized what he described as the Congress Party’s “privileged, dynastic, and arrogant mindset,” calling it an insult to both the President’s position and India’s tribal communities. He added, “Attacking a woman President who rose from the grassroots is not only degrading; it’s disgraceful.”

Dr. Shilpa Reddy, chief of the Telangana BJP Mahila Morcha, also condemned Sonia Gandhi’s remarks. She called Gandhi’s comments an example of “vulgar politics” and said terms like “boring” and “rubber stamp” undermine the dignity of the President’s office. Dr. Shilpa demanded a public apology, stating, “It is intolerable to belittle the position of the President and insult a tribal woman. Sonia Gandhi should apologise immediately for undermining democratic values.”

Dr. Shilpa also highlighted the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government over the past decade. She noted that initiatives like Ujjwala Yojana, Har Ghar Jal, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat have greatly benefited women, farmers, and tribal communities. She praised the President’s recent speech in the Lok Sabha, which outlined various welfare schemes aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

The BJP has called for Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to issue an apology to President Droupadi Murmu. Dr. Shilpa warned that if they fail to do so, they will face backlash from the people.
