Union Minister and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy criticized the Telangana State Budget for 2025-26, saying it does not focus on public welfare or state development.

On Wednesday, he blamed the previous BRS government for putting the state’s finances in trouble for ten years. He also accused the current Congress government of making things worse. He recalled that last year’s budget was excused as a mistake since it was the Congress party’s first year in power. However, after 15 months of governance, he claimed that the party has failed to implement its six guarantees and 420 promises.

Kishan Reddy pointed out that for the 2024-25 budget, the state initially estimated GST revenue to be ₹58,594 crore. Later, this estimate was reduced by ₹5,000 crore, bringing it down to ₹53,665 crore. He said this shows an 8.5% decline in GST collections and demanded the government explain the reason for this drop.

He also expressed doubts about the 2025-26 budget, which expects GST collections to be ₹59,704 crore. He suggested that the figures may have been exaggerated.
