All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge will be participating in the election campaign in Alampur and Nalgonda Assembly constituencies on Wednesday. Kharge arrived in Hyderabad on Tuesday and will travel to Alampur by helicopter to address a public meeting at noon. Later in the evening, he will also campaign in Nalgonda at 4 pm. After completing the day’s campaign, Kharge will board a special flight to Delhi.
As the election campaign nears its end, many top leaders of the Congress party are joining in the high-intensity campaign starting from Wednesday. The party has invited Sonia Gandhi for a meeting on November 27 or 28 and has engaged top leaders from Karnataka and other states. Rahul Gandhi will be visiting on November 24 and 25, while Priyanka will campaign on November 24, 25, and 27.
The party’s general secretary (organisation), K C Venugopal, is staying in a hotel and coordinating important aspects of the poll management. Leaders from Karnataka, which has seen success for the party, have already been assigned segments in Telangana for campaigning. Chief Ministers from Congress’s ruling states will also be present in Telangana this week.
Vijaya Shanthi, who is leading the committee of Campaign and Planning as Chief Coordinator for Assembly elections, will campaign in Khammam, Mahbubnagar, and Hyderabad (GHMC area) in the coming days.
To ensure better coordination with allies and friendly parties, the Congress party has formed an Election Alliance Coordination Committee, which includes Prof M Kodanda Ram and Chada Venkat Reddy from important elements like CPI and TJS.
