Khammam experiences a surge in dengue cases

In the past three weeks, there have been 62 new cases of dengue reported. Out of these cases, 40 were in Khammam district. To prevent the spread of the disease, anti-larvae solutions will be used within a 100-meter radius of affected areas. Establishments that test negative for typhoid will receive “Typhoid-free shop” stickers.

The district authorities held a review meeting to address the increase in dengue cases. Since the beginning of the year, there have been a total of 505 positive cases in Khammam district. The district Collector has expressed concern and urged health officials to intensify testing and implement measures to control the spread of dengue.

In the last three weeks alone, there have been 62 new cases of dengue. 40 of these cases were in Khammam district, while the remaining 22 cases were from other areas. To tackle this issue, the authorities will conduct dry day activities and use anti-larvae solutions in affected locations. They will also collect resident samples for testing.

The Collector has ensured the availability of test kits and medicines. He has also emphasized the importance of screening individuals involved in food preparation, such as school staff, hostel workers, street vendors, and hotel staff. These individuals should undergo testing for typhoid. The Collector has proposed implementing “Typhoid-free shop” stickers for establishments that test negative for typhoid and special testing camps for street vendors.
