Many people, especially children, are suffering from viral fevers. Some are also affected by typhoid, malaria, and dengue fever. Both government and private hospitals are seeing a large number of patients with symptoms like fever, loose motions, vomiting, and joint pains. People in rural areas are reporting similar health issues.

Officials have been trying to raise awareness about these diseases, but their efforts seem to have fallen short. District Medical & Health Officer Khammam, Dr. Malathi, stated that not all fevers are dengue. She mentioned that out of 13,600 tests conducted in Khammam district, only 292 were NS1 fevers and 18 were IGM Positive for dengue. In July, nine positive cases of dengue were recorded.

Dr. Malathi emphasized the need for public cooperation to control the spread of these viral diseases. She pointed out that people were careful during the COVID-19 pandemic but have since become careless about following precautionary measures at home.

To prevent the spread of these diseases, Dr. Malathi advised that any stagnant water in and around homes should be removed immediately. Teams are currently visiting villages to educate people about preventative measures.
