Hyderabad: The Old City Metro project has achieved an important milestone. Compensation cheques will be distributed to property owners affected by land acquisition along the MG Bus Station (MGBS) to Chandrayangutta metro corridor route. The distribution will take place on Monday.
Authorities have identified 1,100 properties affected by the project. Out of these, 169 property owners have already submitted their required documents, and over 40 properties have completed the verification process. The government has approved compensation of ₹81,000 per square yard for the affected properties.
The cheque distribution event will be attended by Telangana Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. They will personally hand over the cheques to the property owners. This marks a major step forward in the metro expansion project, which aims to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the Old City.
While many locals have welcomed this development, some are still waiting for the resolution of pending compensation claims. Further updates on the project are expected in the coming weeks.
