The Telangana High Court’s single bench, led by Justice K Sujana, rejected a petition from Kalvakuntla Kanna Rao @ Tejeshwar Rao, seeking to dismiss a criminal case against him for charges of attempt to murder, land-grabbing, and encroachment. The case, registered by Adibatla police under FIR 123/2024, accused Rao and others of trying to take over two acres of land owned by Bandoju Srinivas.
Two other accused individuals, Jakkidi Surender Reddy and Jakkidi Harinath, also had their petitions to dismiss the same FIR rejected by the court. All three petitioners wanted the charges dropped.
In a separate case, arguments from Praneeth Rao’s legal team were concluded, with a decision expected soon. The court heard claims of mistreatment during police interrogation, including leaks to the press and violations of guidelines set by the Supreme Court. The State’s public prosecutor defended the police actions, stating they were following proper procedures and investigating a serious offense of phone-tapping.
Overall, the court was reviewing multiple petitions related to criminal cases and allegations of misconduct during police investigations, including orders to suspend certain legal actions pending further review.
