KCR's family skips Lok Sabha elections for the first time

In Hyderabad, the KCR family is not participating in the Lok Sabha elections for the first time in 23 years. Former Chief Minister KCR and his family have always been actively involved in both Parliament and Assembly elections since 2004. There were rumors that KCR, his son K. T. Rama Rao, or nephew T. Harish Rao might run for Lok Sabha this time, but none of them are contesting.

KCR’s daughter K. Kavitha, who lost the 2019 election in Nizamabad, is also not running this time. She was recently arrested in connection with an alleged scam involving the Delhi excise policy. KCR, who left the Telugu Desam Party to start the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in 2001, was elected to Lok Sabha and became a minister in the UPA government. He played a significant role in achieving the formation of Telangana state.

After forming the first government in Telangana in 2014, KCR became the Chief Minister, with his son and nephew serving as ministers. In the 2019 elections, Kavitha lost her seat to BJP’s Dharmapuri Arvind. The recent Assembly elections saw the BRS losing power to Congress. The BRS has announced candidates for all 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana and claims to have maintained social balance in candidate selection.
